Sidewalk Diamonds Announce Sophomore Album Summer Souls & Melting Hearts, Out Dec 4, 2026

Coming off of their debut album Dreams of Dance Floors, Sidewalk Diamonds are proudly releasing their second full album Summer Souls & Melting Hearts on December 4, 2026 available at sidewalkdiamonds.com and sidewalkdiamonds.bandcamp.com. These songs flow from veteran songwriters/vocalists Beth Pyper-Holz and Tony Thomas and inevitably reflect the collective and personal sides of life in Minneapolis over the past two years. From rage and resiliency in the streets to the inner light and shadow uncertain times bring. 

Roots-inspired music with loose steering and a foot on the gas. Sweet harmonies over a glorious racket. Big guitars and bigger vocals. Driving rhythms leading to delicate spaces. Soaring and unabashed, gentle and unruly.

Featured tracks

“Lightweight Black Sweater”, written by Beth Pyper-Holz is a tongue-in-cheek song on the infinite range of emotions and perplexing body experiences that come with menopause. The lightweight black sweater brings comfort when your nervous system is out of whack. We can embrace the changes, get some hormones and celebrate the beauty of living longer.

“Dirt Town Dreams”, written by Tony Thomas, is about the experience of leaving his small home town to come to the Twin Cities for college. His hometown is in the rearview mirror and summer souls are headed for neon signs in the city. It’s about yearning for something bigger at a time when you just can’t get there fast enough.

The band is rounded out by Nick Pyper-Holz (Anchorhead, The Betsies) on drums, Bill Connell (Flood) on bass, and Jeff Peterson (Ass Champs, Pueblo Revolt, SME, The Dave Markland 5) on "other guitar".

The band’s name is a nod to the John Prine lyric, “from the diamonds on the sidewalk, to the dirt in the gutter,” encapsulating the group’s balance between grit and grace. That duality shines through in their music, led by the unmistakable vocal harmonies of Beth and Tony, who share a mutual admiration for artists like Neko Case and PJ Harvey.
